Pencil signed, dated & editioned.Frank Armington was a Canadian painter and etcher. Born at Fordwich inOntario in 1876, he studied art in Toronto under J. W. L. Forster in1882, and was also a student of Constant and Laurens in Paris at theAcadémie Julian in 1899, and again 1905-07. Frank married fellowartist Caroline Helena Wilkinson and lived in Paris for most of hiscareer. The artist couple returned to Canada, however, to teach inWinnipeg from 1901 to 1905. Robert Fulton Logan was among Frank's students. The Armingtons returned to Paris in 1906 and Frank quicklyestablished himself as a fine landscape and figure artist in bothetching and painting. He was a full member of the Société Nationale dela Gravure Originale en Noir, MOST OF THE EXAMPLES OF THIS WORK ARE IN PRIVATE OR PUBLIC COLLECTIONS INCLUDING THE NATIONAL GALLERY OF CANADA
