Margo Hoff studied at the national academy of art in Chicago, the art institute of Chicago, the University of Chicago and hull house. During the 1950's she exhibited paintings and prints in shows throughout the US, and in 1955 was offered a solo show at Wildenstein Galleries in Paris. In 1960 she moved to New York city, where her work was frequently shown at Hadler-Rodriguez Galleries, Saidenberg Gallery, Babcock Gallery, Betty Parsons Gallery, and Banter Gallery. Her work has been shown and collected throughout the United States, as well as the UK, France, Italy, and Lebanon. Museum collections include the metropolitan museum of art, The Art Institute of Chicago, The Brooklyn Museum, The National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, among others.
